Day Trips

Bayei Cultural Day Trip

The Bayei are a Bantu-speaking tribe who immigrated to Ngamiland in the 18th century. Spend a day discovering the culture and traditions of the Bayei tribe and witness traditional doctors demonstrating how different flora can cure a range of diseases.

Guests will also enjoy an insight into the Initiation School where traditional dancing provides entertainment which documents two life stages: reaching puberty and the subsequent entry into adolescence; and joining society as an adult. Finally, a short excursion outside the compound will show guests the different hunting methods which were used in the past and the traditional mortars made on inactive termites mounds.

Moremi Game Reserve day trip

Moremi Game Reserve is situated at the heart of the Okavango Delta and was the first wildlife area to be set aside by tribal people rather than colonial powers.

Guests will be collected early in the morning and taken by safari vehicle to Moremi Game Reserve, one of the most beautiful and varied wildlife reserves in Africa. Enjoy a morning game drive amongst the wonderful density of game this area commonly experiences, which includes lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, white rhino, and even the rare black rhino. After stopping for lunch, guests will continue the game drive to the boat station where they will embark upon a stunning one hour boat cruise amongst the meandering channels of the Okavango Delta. Finally, guests will return to Maun in the afternoon via a leisurely en-route game drive.

Mokoro day trip

One of the most tranquil and relaxing experiences is undoubtedly the Mokoro trip, a traditional dugout canoe in which guests are poled by skilled Guides through the shallow channels of the Okavango Delta. This tranquil activity allows guests to relax in a picturesque setting, and enjoy the serenity of one of the Okavango Delta's most untouched environments.

Guests will be collected in the morning and taken by safari vehicle to the Mokoro station. During the day they may be lucky enough to see big game coming down to drink at the water's edge, but the true beauty of Mokoro activities is in the relaxing nature of the scenic waterways, swaying papyrus and incredible birdlife. In the afternoon guests will be returned to the Mokoro station where they will be collected for the return transfer by safari vehicle to Maun.
